Can I Recycle Pizza Boxes?
Can I Recycle Pizza Boxes?
After eating that takeout pizza, you have probably wondered to yourself, can I recycle pizza boxes? They are cardboard, so…
Unfortunately, the answer is generally, no, you shouldn’t put your pizza box in the recycling bin. However, if the lid is completely clean with no grease or cheese on it, then you could cut or rip that portion off and recycle it with your paper and cardboard.
In general, any dirty paper products with grease, oils and other food stains soaked into them should be left out of your recycling. The grease will contaminate the recycled paper and can ruin an entire batch.
So what can I do with leftover pizza boxes?
Pizza boxes can be composted if you compost your food scraps and yard waste at home. New to composting? Check out Composting 101, our intro guide to composting for beginners.
